The Bentzen Silverman Foundation believes literacy is a basic need, essential to the life of every child. We work with public schools and organizations to ensure all children have access to effective, evidence-based tutoring programs that are critical in grades K–2. Since 2012, we have helped over 20,000 children become confident readers in New York City and nationally.

What We Do

We create and sustain organizations that provide evidence-based literacy programs for children in grades K–2. Since 2012, we’ve dedicated over $20 million in direct funding to their work.

Our Grantees

Reading Go!

Our core commitment is to Reading Go!, the high-dose tutoring program for children grades K-2 who need extra help learning to read. BSF acquired the program in 2012 in order to offer Reading Go! for free to public school students who need it most.
